Bethesda Volunteer Program (BVP)

The help and support our volunteering gives our clients and their families is always welcomed and needed.
There are several ways you can Volunteer!
Directly with clients and their familes
Volunteers offer support and companionship to those clients that are in great need human stimulation due to the lack family support. As a volunteer, you may want to suggest talents you would like to share.
- Run errands or grocery shopping.
- Sitting with the client so family members can take a break.

- Playing cards, games or music.
- Painting, drawing, or sewing.
- Lawn or garden care.
- Providing transportation to Dr. Appointments or Senior Center Activities.
- Reading to patients or just holding their hand.
Office Volunteers
We work with volunteers to offer services in the office setting. Duties include filing, assembling admission packets and other manuals, mailing patient satisfactory surveys, assist in preparation for workshops, photocopying, and other duties as assigned.
Background Checks
Criminal background checks are required for volunteers who may have unsupervised contact with clients. As with any employee, volunteers must be cleared before beginning an assignment.
Safety is the number one reason why we perform background checks for volunteers. Any volunteer that meets the following critera must have a criminal background check performed.
- the volunteer will have unsupervised contact with client/patient;
- the volunteer has a regular and ongoing assignment at the agency;
- the volunteer will be off with clients/patients in an unsupervised situation, including driving clients/patients to doctor appointments or personal errands.
